This unit explores those program types that have their content located in the real, or socio-political world, commencing with the first films, through the development of news reels, documentaries, and then television formats such as news and current affairs. The unit follows the historic development of production technologies and how they have impacted on the way program makers have sought to represent the real world on cinema, television and computer screens.
